Some cute spots to visit in Yorkshireβ¦
As someone who was born in Yorkshire and has lived here all my life, itβs safe to say that I know a bit about the best spots to go if youβre after a nice family day out or looking for a relaxing weekend away. Even more so since I passed my driving test last year, I spend 80% of my time in my car, taking Reuben out on road trips, and we go all over! Iβm always looking for cute places to go for picnics or for the best places to keep a toddler entertained for a few hours and tire him out for bedtime. And of course for all the Instagram snaps too! Below Iβm going to share a few of my favourites that you may not have heard of before, although you probably will have if you already live near this area. If youβre planning a little trip to Yorkshire any time soon then keep readingβ¦

Runswick Bay
Runswick Bay is actually quite a recent discovery for me, itβs just up the road from Whitby (another dreamy location to visit!) and in my opinion is a bit of a hidden gem. Iβd never really heard much about it before until I was having a google of a quiet beach spot to take Reuben for a little car ride, seaside walk and an ice cream β of course. The views are to die for, itβs got a beautiful beach and itβs never ever busy. I actually live by the sea and where I live is absolutely crazy hectic in summer, so we prefer to have a little drive out and go to somewhere a bit more secluded, and this fits the bill perfectly. The ice cream there is divine too, may I add!
Betton Farm
If you have toddlers or young children and youβre staying in the Scarborough/Filey area, Betton Farm is not one to miss. Itβs based in East Ayton and is a quiet little farm spot with a tea room and an outdoor play area full to the brim of outdoor toys for kids. There are usually loads of chickens running about too, there were loads of baby ones the last time we visited! You can find pigs, a goat and even guinea pigs in the area, but obviously not running free. Itβs free to visit and has loads of picnic tables and Ru loves it there. We can go and heβs entertained for hours. Thereβs a cute little farm shop across from the play area where you can get ice cream, drinks, cakes, all that kinda thing too β so donβt worry about lunch. I highly recommend dropping by if you want somewhere to tire your little ones out.

Wakefield
If youβre visiting the West Yorkshire area, near Leeds etc, then Wakefield is a cute little spot to pop to. The Cathedral is gorgeous and makes for some lovely instagram snaps! If youβre after more of a shopping-filled break away then Leeds is amazing for shopping. We always called it a mini London as it has everything there, including Anthropologie which is amazing! If you want some downtime, recommended spa breaks in Yorkshire include Titanic Spa in Huddersfield which is in the same area of Yorkshire and not too much of a trek by car.

Helmsley
Helmsley is another spot you donβt hear about often, but itβs so lovely there. Itβs a market town so obviously you have the market square, thereβs castle ruins, gorgeous little tea rooms, and itβs just a lovely little place to have a mooch around. If you like cute village locations then this isnβt one to miss.

Hunmanby
Hunmanby is quite a popular tourist spot for a caravan seaside break, but the beach is always so quiet I find! Itβs another gorgeous little beach spot but definitely a lot quieter (mostly) than others. Itβs huge too, a lot bigger than Runswick Bay and a lot of dog walkers come down here so if youβre taking your pets away with you then you might like to let them have a run down here! Hunmanby is on the edge of the Yorkshire wolds and itβs near Filey if youβre in this area.
Do you have any favourite spots you like to visit in Yorkshire?
