Thereβs nothing better in the summer months than sitting in your own back garden cosy with a bottle of cider or a glass of wine, enjoying the lighter evenings and the warm sunshine. As we spend more time outdoors in the evenings over the next few months, itβs nice to make our gardens a cosy space thatβs comfortable to sit out in with lots of pretty lighting, not only is it much more enjoyable for ourselves, but it creates a lovely ambience for any guests we invite over too! Here Iβm sharing five ways in which you can update your garden and make it into a snug, warm space.
Β
Pergola
If you plan on hosting lots of garden get togethers and spending lots of your meal times outdoors, then a pergola would be perfect for you. Not only are they stylish and make your garden look incredibly luxe, but they provide plenty of shade too so that youβre not sat out in the direct sunlight all day long. Theyβre quite pricey to buy so Iβd recommend building your own if you can β itβs so much cheaper!

Comfortable Seating
Investing in a comfy garden lounge set is a must, for those days and evenings where you just want to sit outside enjoying the fresh air and sunshine, you want to make sure youβre comfortable doing so. Itβs pretty awkward if your guests arenβt comfy too. Thereβs so many lounge sets on the market these days and even options to get customised cushion covers, so you can really make the most of the space and add your own mark to it. Itβs a good idea to get folding sun loungers so that they can come out during the day and be nicely stored away in the evenings for space-saving if your garden isnβt huge also.
Β
Festoon Lights
Garden lighting is so important for the ultimate cosy experience, my personal favourite is festoon lights scattered across the whole garden as they look beautiful and add the perfect warm and cosy atmosphere in the evening time. Fairy lights work well too, but itβs important to make sure that you get outdoor appropriate lighting thatβs weather proof. Having an outdoor socket is vital too so that you can just leave it up all year round, so thatβs worth investing in if you donβt already have one.
Β
Fire Pits
I personally think that fire pits are a must have in an outdoor space in the summer time. When youβre spending lots of evenings outside, whilst the weather is warmer it can still get really cool and fire pits just help you get that extra warmth whilst creating such a lovely, cosy mood.
Β
Outdoor Rugs
To finish off a space, an outdoor rug can really make that βtaking the indoor, outsideβ a reality. Thereβs so many fab outdoor rugs on offer these days that are completely weatherproof and I think they make such a difference and help to get that ultra cosiness when youβre spending lots of time outside.
