I’m going to London soon with my sister and I can’t wait to venture out into the Big Smoke and let my hair down – goodness knows it’s been a while! But as well as the usual touristy things, I want to join the locals for some unadulterated fun. So, now that we’re armed with our cheap off-peak tickets, where should we be heading and what’s on offer in London in June?
Here’s what I’ve found so far:
Movies on the River
OK, so you can watch a film anywhere in the world. However, there’s only one place you can sit and watch the sun go down before cruising through London and watching a film.
How amazing does this sound? It’s available five nights a week from 4th June to 3rd August and provides a great way to see our glorious capital city by sunset before watching a great film!
Or, if we’re feeling a bit tight for cash, there’s also the Summer by the River event which is running for three months and is completely free to enjoy.
Cool Bar Crawls
There are so many bars and pubs in London I find it all quite intimidating. How do you even begin to arrange a cheeky bar crawl when there’s just too many to choose from?
Well, we could start by venturing to the highest-rated bars in the city.
These include Lyaness which is an up-and-coming cocktail bar located on South Bank. There are completely new cocktails to try (all created by Mr. Lyan himself), including Purple Pineapple which sounds rather intriguing.
Others include the Sager + Wilde Hackney Rd – a wine bar that serves affordable plonk by the glass or bottle. Or, for some of the best beers in the world, there’s Mother Kelly’s which boasts 33 taps of draught beer and fridges stacked full of other beers. Thankfully, there are staff on hand to help you choose from this vast array of tipples.
Fun Restaurants
London’s not short of places to eat, either. However, for something really off the wall, we might have to try Dans Le Noir.
This restaurant boasts one of the most unique (and altogether bizarre) dining experiences – you eat completely in the dark so you can focus on the taste and smell of the food you’re eating. Or, if we’re in a bit of a rush and want to try something new, there are always plenty of pop-up restaurants. This includes the brilliant Pizza and Life Drawing at Manifesto event which is £25 and includes a glass of wine when you get there, a life drawing class and a pizza halfway through.
Overall, then, it’s clear we’re not going to be short of fun, quirky and memorable experiences during our trip to London. Have you got any recommendations we can add to the list?
