Four home additions worth the investment β Iβm quite the bargain hunter when it comes to homeware, my favourite shop is Homesense with all the discounted designer home finds and Iβm always looking for cheaper dupes of expensive furniture online. However, from time to time I will make the investment in more expensive home purchases as sometimes things are worth investing in when you know youβll get your moneys worth and theyβll last well. I thought that I would share four home additions to my own home that I really think are worth investing in.
Flooring
I think this is the most obvious choice for a home buy worth investing in, especially in a family home where the floor is inevitably going to get lots of hammer day in day out; you want hardwearing floors that will last. I did go for affordable options when I chose my own flooring, but I still made sure I picked products that had good durability too! My lounge flooring has held up pretty well over the last year but Iβm hopefully going to swap it out for a new wood floor soon that will hold up even longer as I hopefully expand my little family. If you carpet your home, I think itβs worth going for really good quality, soft carpets too. I made sure I walked on them and tested them out before choosing my landing carpet, I knew I wanted something extremely soft and cosy to walk across when coming out of the bath or shower and with having hard floors everywhere, my one bit of carpet had to be divine to walk across!
Vanity
Β This one will definitely be personal preference, but I really had to bite my tongue when I invested in my West Elm desk a couple of years ago. I was so in love with the look of it that I just had to have it. Whilst you can get desks much cheaper than this one was, all of my previous ones have held up so badly. Theyβve got chipped, covered in stains that wonβt come out etcβ¦ even though my West Elm desk has had itβs minor faults such as scratching a bit too easily, ultimately itβs held up so much better than any other desk Iβve owned in the past so Iβm happy I made the investment. I also think they tend to end up as a cluttered & messy part of the room if you buy one you donβt love, whereas with a gorgeous one you can really use it as a statement piece and even covered in makeup it looks beaut.
Mattress
A mattress is not something I would ever have recommended investing in before I got my memory foam mattress. At first I wasnβt sure on it but itβs been a god send for my back. That makes me sound so old, but after having a baby my back was in bad shape and itβs absolutely fine now as I get such a good nights sleep on my gorgeously comfy bed. Iβve had my mattress for about two and a half years now and I still swear by it. If you think about it, it makes sense as this is something youβll rely on every single night of your life to give you good rest so donβt cheap out when choosing it β itβs not worth the uncomfortable nights!
Sofa
Probably the most obvious choice when it comes to something worth majorly investing in for your home. Iβve done the cheap sofa and whilst it did me well for nearly 3 years, it was clearly not amazing quality, it lost itβs bounce and the colour became dull and faded. Iβve recently splurged on a new one and I canβt vouch for the longevity of it just yet, but I know from how long my parents have lasted and how comfy they still are years later, that good sofas are worth the £££!Β
